pearl buck's, the good earth - 9/10. one of the best novels i have read in a long time. her writing is amazing in terms of flow. buck chronicles the life of a chinese farmer in the early 20th century. the story goes through the seasons of life, and it seems by the end, it has come a full circle. the joys, pains, difficulties that the farmer faces applies to life at during any time period in any country. throughout the story, buck also examines love, the differences between generations, and the effect of wealth.
