guns, germs and steel - 5/10. jared diamond provides an interesting account of why european civilizations ended up with all the power - because they developed guns, germs and steel. his arguement is that it was environmental factors that lead to this, most notably the availability of plants and animals to domesticate. very intesting, however i found long stetches of the book long and repetitious.
wicked - 7.5/10. wicked is wicked. i thought the idea for the story and the witty humour was good. i'm not sure if it will become a classical though. it was entertaining and also didn't seem long. a lot of musicals you start dying in the second half wondering when it will be over.
