re: rcmp investigation on ralph goodale for alledgely tipping bay street traders in regards to the income trust annoucement. as you know there was large trading volume in the income trusts a few hours before the annoucement.

i'm a first year mba student with little knowledge of sales and trading or the intricacies of hedge funds. i read the news regularly. my dad is a retired engineer who monitors the stock market using sophiscated products on the internet[sic] such as globeinvestor.com. we both knew - thats right knew, that ralph goodale was not going to raise taxes on income trusts before a election call. no government in the right mind would raise taxes in this situation.

fast forward to the announcement day. when a press conference is scheduled by the finance minister - and knowing that he was not calling the press conference to raise taxes, then any educated person would know its time buy income trusts. in the weeks before the annoucement, i know several people who loaded up in this sector.

so this leads me to the rhetoric from ndp leader jack layton and conservative leader stephen harper who are demanding goodale's resignation because of the alledged tipping. i hope they are playing politcs, because do i really want people who are that lost with how the stock markets work running the country?
