i hate paying for services that i don't want or that people force me to accept. for example in new york - i don't need someone to carry my baggage. that being said, it annoys me when hotel staff are trying to be overly helpful. they just want to carry my baggage so i'll be obliged to tip them. another annoyance is the washroom attendant. like who needs someone to stand there and hand out paper towels? like i couldn't get the towels myself? the towel attedent also stands in front of the towel dispenser so you can't get to the towels. those squegee kids are more useful - since while i'm driving, i can't clean my windshield (the back one at least).

an interesting one is the people who open public doors and then expect a tip. i'm the one who doesn't hold subway poles to avoid the germs. i obviously would prefer not to touch public door handles. the problem with this service is that if i get out my wallet to take out cash to tip the doorman, then my hands would be dirty from touching the money. i might as well open the door for myself.
