if you have a pair of nike shoes that is starting to break, send them back to nike. they'll replace them free if a "manufacturing" defect is found. so far i believe i'm 4 for 4 in this. previous defects i've hade include - air bubble breaking, zipper broken, 2 x toe rubber peeling. don't get me wrong. the quality of nike products is usually very good. i think they just don't expect people like me to wear their shoes every day in snow, mud etc.
i just called them today to open a claim. when i first started this 5 years ago, shoes had a lifetime guarantee. it was decreased to 3 years, and then to 2 years today. this is probably because of people like me. an improvement is that fact that it took be less that 5 mintues to get a return authorization number. the previous 4 times, i waited on hold for at least 30 min each time before speaking to an operator. it was like they were trying me to give up. this time... piece of cake.
