it says so here - the liberal government will survive thursday's confidence/budget vote.

belinda stronach, arguably the most high profile member of the conservative party, joined the liberal party because saw an opportunity to be the prime minister. paul martin has about 3-4 years left, should he win the next election. the critics are calling ms. stronach a traitor, and an opportunist. these are not necessarily bad things. first of all, ms. stronach, a former ceo, has a vision and ambition for the country. she is an intelligent woman who feels she can contribute to canada. she should take this opportunity to make a difference. opportunism beats apathy all the time. second, the traitor accusation. harper and stronach have been increasingly at odds over policy. had she toed the party line, the critics currently calling martin a enuch would have interestingly levelled the same accusations at ms. stronach. changing parties is not a bad thing. remember that winston churchill party switcher/traitor. history has treated churchill very kindly, crediting him with saving europe and treating him asone of the greatest wartime leaders. ironically, all of this while he was chosen to lead a coalition government consisting of his current and former parties.
