i'm always up for an entertaining debate. most issues fall into some sort of gray area, so thats what makes debate interesting. however there are times when i'm just right and people want to aruge or disprove facts. we won't get into the philosophy of what makes a fact etc, but sometimes people want to argue that 1+1 does not equal 2. so here's my question - if i have the correct answer - am i obligated to make the other person accept it? there are some cases where this is necessary. for instance as an engineer if i know something is wrong, i am obligated in the public safety to understand my views despite how stubborn they are. however in other situations when people disagree with me after i tell them the correct answer, sometimes i'm too lazy to insist and just let them live in ignorance. sometimes people with pedestrians knowledge will dispute things that i am very familiar with - like the rules of ice hockey, or housing prices/rents in california, or what courses i take at school. is it ok if i just let people think the wrong thing. what happens if someone goes on to make a bad decision because i didn't bother to argue/convince them?
rollerhockey. i'm really bad at it. we are now 0-2 and with losing scores of 12-6, 10-3. i really need to learn how to move on rollerblades. it seems that other ice hockey players make this transition easily.
