just came back from meeting at uwaterloo, the trip back taking 3 hours! my company hires them to do research for us. this prof's previous study for the industry was on the aging of wooden hydro poles... yeah... thats what civil engineers do. good call by the electrical engineers at work to contract out that one...

uwaterloo is actually a nice place when the sun is out. the campus is pretty isolated, so its sort of like going on a retreat from the city. the really good thing - and you only notice it when you go there - is that there is no traffic or noise on campus. its actually relaxing. anyways i respect uwaterloo and i actually like people who go there, so i'll won't be too harsh. All the buildings are about 40 years old - a time period where architecture was well... bad. its all concrete with no windows. for those at UT, imagine a campus will all the buildings looking like new college, or robarts. second of all, the waterloo faculty club restaurant is like a cafeteria. not quite the high society like at UC.
